Rum News Agency and Al-Shahed Media Group hosted former Senator Sheikh Hammad Al-Maaytah at their offices for a candid and significant discussion about Jordan's history and cultural heritage.
Al-Maaytah began his interview by discussing Jordan's ability to overcome crises and challenges, crediting the wise Hashemite leadership and the loyal Jordanian people. He highlighted how the late King Hussein successfully thwarted both regional and global conspiracies.
He added that King Abdullah II continues on King Hussein's path with wisdom and leadership, connecting Jordan to the external world and playing a crucial role in the region.
Al-Maaytah emphasized the importance of pride in the Jordanian Armed Forces, describing them as the nation's sons and protectors.
He expressed his belief that political parties would not meet aspirations due to the persistent tribal organization in Jordanian society, noting that some parties are merely imitating the West.
Al-Maaytah recounted a story from his time with the late King Hussein, when he mediated the release of fifteen political detainees. He also shared how he contributed to the release of detainees during King Abdullah II's reign, underscoring the Hashemites' respect for loyal and devoted citizens.
He mentioned gifting King Abdullah II a Bedouin cloak during the COVID-19 pandemic, despite restrictions, showcasing the king's pride in the gesture.
Regarding Crown Prince Hussein's visit to Al-Maaytah's home, he described the warm reception and the large gathering of Karak residents, which delighted the Crown Prince and King Abdullah II.
Al-Maaytah also praised former Minister of Justice Bassam Talhouni for his integrity and significant contributions, particularly in easing airport procedures for citizens with financial obligations.
