The Ministry of Health announced the recording of the first case of West Nile fever through the fever surveillance program in selected areas. The case was diagnosed in the central laboratories of the Ministry of Health.

Dr. Raed Al-Shuboul, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Health for Primary Health Care and Epidemics, stated that the recorded case is of a 6-year-old girl who is in stable health, recovering, and under medical supervision.

Al-Shuboul indicated that the selected areas for the fever surveillance program are geographically representative. He noted that the disease does not transmit from person to person and is not a public health concern.

Al-Shuboul confirmed that the Ministry of Health has a strong surveillance program capable of detecting and diagnosing cases in laboratories.
