In an important interview hosted by the "Rum" news agency and the Al-Shahid Media Group, former MP Dr. Hayel Ayash discussed various local issues, including the health sector and the parliament.
At the start of the interview, Ayash praised King Abdullah II's decision to hold parliamentary elections despite the volatile regional situation. He emphasized that the upcoming phase requires significant efforts to ensure the success of political modernization.
Regarding political parties, Ayash criticized some for using financial measures to influence candidates, calling it an unsuccessful start. He warned that failing to implement political modernization could lead to negative consequences.
Ayash also noted the need for Gulf countries to support Jordan due to its significant challenges. He criticized the government's decision to halt medical exemptions, describing it as harmful to citizens and intended to friction between MPs and their constituents. He stressed that this decision is flawed given the lack of comprehensive health insurance.
On the health sector, Ayash acknowledged that the Jordanian government allocates 13% of its budget to health, but criticized the management of this sector, without commenting on Health Minister Dr. Firas Al-Hawari's performance.
He clarified that no MPs in the 19th Parliament sold medical exemptions, asserting that "medicine should not be commercialized." He compared the 19th Parliament to the 1989 Parliament, noting that it has handled many challenges and lacks commercial interests.
Ayash also mourned the passing of his office manager, Fayyad Ayash, recounting the painful moment he received the news. He recalled leaving an event immediately after learning of Fayyad's death.
Reflecting on his life, Ayash chose "Success" as a fitting title and spoke of his father's exemplary patriotism. He concluded by sharing his insights gained from four years in parliament and 31 years in dentistry.
