Amman - The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) announced on Tuesday the appointment of Yahya Sinwar as the head of the movement's political bureau, succeeding Ismail Haniyeh who was assassinated in an Israeli airstrike in Tehran.

In a statement via Telegram, the movement said, "The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas announces the selection of leader Yahya Sinwar as the head of the political bureau of the movement, succeeding the martyr leader Ismail Haniyeh, may Allah have mercy on him."
