Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ayman Safadi, along with the Egyptian Foreign Minister, strongly condemned on Monday the extremist remarks made by Israel's National Security Minister regarding the establishment of a Jewish synagogue in the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound/Haram al-Sharif. They denounced the comments as a violation of international law and an unacceptable incitement that necessitates a clear international stance of condemnation and opposition.

The ministers expressed their countries' absolute rejection of these extremist policies, which aim to alter the historical and legal status of Jerusalem and its holy sites through a policy of imposing facts on the ground.

They emphasized the need to respect the existing legal and historical status of the holy sites, affirming that the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound/Haram al-Sharif, with its entire area of 144 dunams, is a place of worship exclusively for Muslims. They reiterated that the Jerusalem Waqf and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Administration, which is under the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs, and Holy Places, is the legal authority with exclusive jurisdiction over the management of all matters related to the Haram al-Sharif and the regulation of entry into it.

The ministers also reaffirmed Jordan and Egypt's support for Lebanon, emphasizing its security, stability, and sovereignty, and underscored the importance of adhering to UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
