It is self-evident that the entire Palestinian cause is a purely Jordanian issue. This has always been the position of His Majesty King Abdullah II, backed by the Jordanian government and the entire Jordanian people. Since the outbreak of the brutal aggression on Gaza and its steadfast people, Amman was the first Arab capital—and indeed the first in the world—to rally in support of our people there, defending them through every possible political means. Jordan then moved to providing relief when all means of delivering medicine and food to our people there were blocked. The first relief missions were carried out by our valiant armed forces and their brave airmen, under the direct guidance and even participation of the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, King Abdullah II.
Now, Jordan is once again at the forefront of diplomatic efforts as the brutal Israeli aggression intensifies against our people in the West Bank. Israeli killing machines wreak havoc, death, and destruction in the cities, villages, and camps of the West Bank after having already ravaged human life, land, and nature in Gaza, while the world remains inert in the face of these heinous crimes. Amman has stepped forward, with the Jordanian government declaring unequivocally that all options are on the table, including resorting to international courts to hold the occupying state accountable for its crimes in the West Bank, following its atrocities in Gaza. To those who might question the efficacy of such actions, we say that when Jordan speaks of all options, it carries deep significance. Jordan has long championed peace for the entire region and for future generations. The occupying state must heed Amman’s message: its actions pose a direct threat to regional peace. While Jordan continues to uphold peace, it may soon be forced to place the entire peace process "on the line" if Israel persists in its brinkmanship.
The world, especially the global decision-making capitals and political institutions, foremost among them the United Nations and the Security Council, must realize that it is Tel Aviv and those who lead its extremist government who are jeopardizing peace entirely. They threaten the region with a wider war if they continue to ignite its fuse. In Gaza alone, nearly fifty thousand martyrs have fallen, and now the West Bank is offering martyr after martyr. If Israel believes it can empty the land of its people, if it thinks this is the opportune moment, it is gravely mistaken. Amman has made it clear a thousand times over that forced displacement is a red line. What happened in 1948 and 1967 will not be repeated, as it gave the occupier the opportunity to expand its grip on land, occupy homes, and widen its territorial control. At the same time, it is certain that Palestinians will never abandon the land of their ancestors; they will hold on to it even more firmly, even if the price is blood.
There is no longer any humanitarian justification for the world's continued silence. Every influential and active state, particularly Washington, must act swiftly to curb the madness of the extremist government in Tel Aviv, lest it drag the region into a disaster with unthinkable consequences. Jordan will remain the steadfast supporter and backbone of Palestine and its people.
