Amman, 4th September—The value of certificates of origin issued by the Amman Chamber of Commerce for exporting goods to Arab and foreign countries rose by 1.8% during the first eight months of 2024, compared to the same period last year.
According to the Chamber's statistical data, the value of Amman Chamber's exports reached approximately JOD 943 million in the first eight months of this year, compared to JOD 926 million for the same period in 2023.
The number of certificates of origin issued also increased by 3.7%, totalling 25,409 certificates during the same period this year, compared to 24,494 certificates last year.
The data shows that the certificates of origin issued during the first eight months of this year were primarily for exports to Saudi Arabia (7,456 certificates), the United Arab Emirates (2,682), Iraq (1,667), Egypt (775), and Switzerland (20 certificates).
The exports during this period were distributed as follows: Iraq (JOD 463 million), Saudi Arabia (approximately JOD 78 million), Egypt (around JOD 72 million), the UAE (JOD 58 million), and Switzerland (about JOD 50 million).
Moreover, the data reveals that the exports comprised re-exports of foreign products (around JOD 474 million), industrial goods (JOD 189 million), agricultural products (JOD 122 million), Arab products (JOD 61 million), and other miscellaneous products.
The Chamber issues certificates of origin for Jordanian agricultural, animal, and raw natural resources, as well as for foreign goods being re-exported, and foreign goods purchased from the local market under specific conditions.
Additionally, certificates of origin for Jordanian industrial products are issued upon the exporter's request, based on the original factory invoice certified by an industrial chamber, and a certified certificate of origin confirming the goods are of Jordanian origin.
