Engineer Haitham Al-Majali confirmed that Aqaba is currently experiencing significant development across various sectors, thanks to the royal vision and directives and the direct supervision and follow-up by the Crown Prince. This development in the Aqaba Special Economic Zone reflects a notable enhancement in investment and work across all fields. He pointed out that the great success of the SOFEX global exhibition at the International Exhibition Center in Aqaba, with high-level and extensive international participation, is one of the many indicators of this renaissance, which demonstrates international respect and confidence in His Majesty the King and growing interest in Aqaba.
On the sidelines of the exhibition and as part of the Jordanian Duty-Free Company's policy to leverage all available investment opportunities and ensure a strong presence in Aqaba, which is witnessing remarkable development on multiple fronts, CEO of the Jordanian Duty-Free Company, Engineer Haitham Al-Majali, and board member Mr. Mahmoud Al-Maaytah visited the Aqaba cruise ship terminal, part of Marsa Zayed. During this visit, they discussed the possibility of establishing a strong presence for the Jordanian Duty-Free at the terminal and reached a preliminary agreement to grant the duty-free a prime location to serve passengers of the major cruise ships, which bring hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the world to Aqaba. Official approvals and procedures are expected to be completed in the coming days.
This project will provide additional revenue for the duty-free company, according to Engineer Haitham Al-Majali, who noted that this aligns with the company's strategy to expand into any newly established land and sea border points, offering the highest levels of service to travelers in both directions.
The duty-free company is present at various land and sea crossings and is continuously developing its services, products, and capabilities for visitors and citizens of Jordan. Accompanied by board member Mahmoud Al-Maaytah, CEO Haitham Al-Majali also inspected the Al-Nafoura Tourist and Commercial Complex, which is a successful investment by the duty-free company in the heart of Aqaba. Officials at the complex confirmed that Al-Nafoura has become a shopping and entertainment destination for Aqaba’s visitors and residents, as well as an important investment attraction point, indicating the possibility of expanding and developing this vital project in the city.
