For the seventh consecutive year, Arab Bank and the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) have renewed their cooperation agreement to support the "Back to School" programme for the 2024-2025 academic year. This initiative benefits over 400 students, including children and adolescents, who are patients at the King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC).
Arab Bank has long prioritised this programme as part of its sustainability and corporate social responsibility strategy, aiming to enhance education in Jordan and opportunities for vulnerable groups to continue their academic journey. Since its launch in 2017, the programme has supported over 2,300 cancer patients across various educational stages.
In partnership with the Ministry of Education, the programme involves Arab Bank volunteers who offer weekly tutoring sessions, private lessons, and educational support to patients undergoing long-term treatment at KHCC, allowing them to keep up with their studies. Additionally, Arab Bank provides essential academic supplies such as stationery, textbooks, and laptops. The bank also covers special educational needs, including field trips, educational courses, and school expenses for children with disabilities.
Mrs Nasreen Qatamish, Director General of KHCF, expressed her appreciation to Arab Bank for its continued support over the past seven years. She highlighted the programme's success in enabling cancer patients to continue their education despite challenges, aligning with KHCF’s commitment to providing holistic care that encompasses medical, psychological, and academic support.
It is worth noting that Arab Bank adopts a comprehensive sustainability and social responsibility strategy aimed at enhancing its economic, social, and environmental impact. The bank’s "Together" corporate social responsibility programme is one of the key initiatives reflecting this approach, focusing on health, poverty alleviation, environmental protection, education, support for orphans, and women’s empowerment.
