You’ve gone too soon, oh life — a year has passed since the departure of Dunya, daughter of Judge Mohammad Al-Surani.
Here we are, a year since you left us, my daughter — a year filled with pain, longing, and yearning for you. Your sudden departure, without any farewell, hurt all of us—your family, friends, and colleagues. You left unexpectedly, without ever complaining, and we still await your return. You may be gone, but you’ve left behind an indelible mark of love and longing in our hearts that time will never erase. You departed this world in the bloom of youth, and all that remains for us is the grief in our hearts and the tears in our eyes.
You were kind-hearted, remembered fondly by everyone, a woman of good character, as gentle as a breeze, as light as a butterfly. You had a constant smile, always doing good and fulfilling your duties to God and your parents. My daughter, you were content, righteous, and a seeker of knowledge. These traits of yours fill us with pride and honour. Though you have left this world, you left behind a legacy of kindness and a good name. What comforts us is knowing that you are in God’s care, for He is gentle and merciful to His servants.
On the first anniversary of her passing, we pray: O God, have mercy on a pure soul whose absence has broken us, and whose departure has caused us pain. O God, light her grave as her smile once lit our hearts. O God, grant her mercy and forgiveness, and reunite us with her in eternal paradise. Our eyes long to see her, and our ears yearn for her voice. O God, grant us patience and solace, and reunite us with her in heaven. O God, make her soul safe and tranquil, O Lord of the worlds.
“You’ve gone too soon, oh life.”
We say only what pleases God: Verily, to God we belong, and to Him we shall return.
(From your family, who misses you deeply)
