The Israeli army announced on Sunday that a surface-to-surface missile was fired from Yemen towards central Israel, landing in an uninhabited area without causing injuries.

Moments before, sirens sounded in Tel Aviv and central Israel, prompting residents to seek shelter.

The Israeli emergency services reported that 9 Israelis were injured while rushing to shelters during the interception of the missile from Yemen.

Israeli Channel 12 stated that air defences failed to intercept the missile, which landed in an uninhabited area near the airport in central Israel.

Earlier, the Israeli army had announced that its "Arrow 3" defence system intercepted a surface-to-surface missile fired from Yemen towards Eilat, stating that the missile did not enter Israeli airspace.

In July, an Israeli was killed and 10 others injured when a drone fell in central Tel Aviv, a few hundred metres from the US embassy. The Yemeni Houthi group claimed responsibility for the attack.

In "solidarity with Gaza," which has been facing a devastating Israeli war since 7th October 2023, the Houthis have targeted Israeli-linked ships in the Red and Arabian Seas with missiles and drones.
