In continuation of Jordan's narrative, both in words and deeds, His Majesty King Abdullah II has once again brought the file of Palestine and Gaza to the United States, where he is attending the United Nations General Assembly meetings.
However, the atmosphere of this visit is different from previous ones. His Majesty arrived in the US at a time when the entire Middle East is on the brink of explosion. Beyond the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza, which has only escalated, this time the assault has extended to Lebanon, where martyrs are falling one after another. Additionally, the violence against our people in the West Bank is increasing, with attacks from both the Israeli occupation forces and settlers.
Due to the escalating violence and rising tensions in the region, King Abdullah’s warnings have reached their highest level. During his meeting with UN Secretary-General António Guterres at the United Nations headquarters in New York, His Majesty warned of the dangerous consequences of the escalation and stressed the need for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza as the first step towards de-escalation.
At the same time, the King emphasized the need for Israeli attacks in the West Bank to stop, including settler assaults on Palestinians and violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
Regarding Palestine, with Gaza always at the forefront, His Majesty also met with leaders and representatives of various humanitarian organizations working in Gaza. He stressed the need to intensify efforts to pressure the international community to remove all obstacles to delivering aid to the region.
Observers of the royal visit can see the intense pressure King Abdullah is placing on both American and international decision-makers to find a way to stop the violence in Gaza. According to the King's "realistic" vision, this is the starting point to resolve the many issues plaguing the region, which has descended into dark corridors due to Israeli intransigence that has disregarded all proposals to end the war and stop the bloodshed of the youth, children, elderly, and women in the suffering enclave. The devastating war is nearing its second year, yet the extremist leaders of the occupation no remorse for the massive bloodshed and destruction.
As the US enters its presidential election season, with American institutions and people focused on the election, the King intended to send a resounding cry that could be heard by all. His goal is to awaken the consciences that have "fallen asleep" without any sense of humanity, which has been shaken in their minds as the blood of Gaza’s children reveals the stark reality.
The world now stands at a crossroads: either it heeds King Abdullah II's warning and compels the occupying state to cease fire and return to the peace table to achieve the dream of a Palestinian state, or it will soon rush to extinguish the region’s fires, but only after it is too late. As a globally respected Arab leader known for his wisdom, moderation, and deep understanding of the Middle East, the King’s warnings must be taken seriously and examined thoroughly.
