On Tuesday, King Abdullah II delivered a speech at the opening session of the 79th United Nations General Assembly in New York.
On the sidelines of the meetings, His Majesty held discussions with world leaders and heads of participating delegations. The King emphasized that the ongoing escalation in the region requires urgent and unified international efforts to de-escalate tensions and prevent the conflict from expanding. He stressed the need to halt Israel's war on Lebanon.
The King also highlighted the importance of achieving an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza as a crucial step to halting the wider regional escalation. He urged for increased humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
Additionally, His Majesty warned of continued Israeli attacks on Palestinians in the West Bank and violations at Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem. He noted that the region will remain trapped in violence unless a political horizon is found to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.
The meetings covered regional and international developments, as well as ways to enhance cooperation across various sectors.
