President of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Khalil Al-Haj Toufiq, and President of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, discussed ways to activate the Jordan-Qatar Joint Business Council.
According to a statement from the Jordan Chamber of Commerce on Monday, the two parties agreed on the importance of reinstating the council as soon as possible to advance trade and investment relations between the two countries, building on past achievements.
During the meeting, held on the sidelines of the 135th session of the Arab Chambers Federation Board in Doha, Al-Haj Toufiq emphasised the distinguished relations between Jordan and Qatar. He stressed the need to develop a new framework for mutual trade and investment cooperation, benefiting from the available opportunities.
The statement noted that the council is expected to be reactivated early next year, playing a crucial role in boosting economic cooperation by increasing trade and investment exchanges.
Al-Haj Toufiq also highlighted the importance of creating actionable plans through the Joint Business Council, especially in light of the region’s rapid economic transformations and global geopolitical shifts, which have significantly impacted the world.
The Joint Business Council was established in 2015 through an agreement between the Jordan Chamber of Commerce and the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry to enhance economic cooperation between business institutions, associations, and unions in both countries.
