On Tuesday morning, Lebanon’s Hezbollah announced in a statement that it had targeted Israeli forces across the border in Muthallath with artillery fire.

The statement did not mention Israel's announcement of a "limited" ground invasion in southern Lebanon.

Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation army declared it had initiated a "precise and targeted" ground operation against Hezbollah positions in the border area near southern Lebanon.

Israeli radio reported that special commando units had penetrated into Lebanese territory.
