Jordan and the UAE continue to set an exceptional example in bilateral relations, not only within the Arab world but also globally. Their positions on various issues, particularly Arab, Islamic, and international affairs, are remarkably aligned.
The recent meeting between His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, in Amman reaffirms the harmony between Amman and Abu Dhabi. This visit comes at a critical time, as the region faces a pivotal moment, with the flames of aggression against the people of Palestine and Lebanon threatening to engulf everyone. Both leaders underscored what they have always agreed upon, a wisdom inherited from their forefathers: recognizing the rightful claim of the Palestinian people to a state and a dignified life is the only path to peace and stability in the region. Without this acknowledgment, particularly from the occupying state and the global powers that support it, there will be no light at the end of the dark tunnel that the region has entered due to reliance on weapons, bullets, and missiles, rather than wisdom and rationality.
Both leaders emphasized the need for intensified Arab and international efforts to halt the ongoing war in Gaza and Lebanon, while reaffirming their full support for the Palestinian people in obtaining their legitimate rights.
Based on shared convictions, Amman and Abu Dhabi consistently affirm that respecting human rights and acknowledging the inalienable rights of every individual, regardless of their location, is the only way to avert the threat of war and destruction. Human consensus is the sole path to global peace and harmony. It is through such consensus that human thought can flourish, allowing for advancements in science and innovation, and leading to greater prosperity for all.
In terms of bilateral relations, particularly in the economic sphere, Jordan and the UAE have previously signed numerous agreements that have benefited both nations. During Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed's blessed visit to Amman, the two leaders witnessed the signing of a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement and an agreement on mutual cooperation in customs matters.
The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement is historic, marking a level of economic integration that is rare between nations. It covers a wide range of areas, reflecting the unique relationship between Jordan and the UAE, which is characterized by mutual respect, trust, and affection. This relationship serves as a model of deep brotherhood. King Abdullah's remarks on the agreement, in which he expressed his hope that it would contribute to the realization of the two countries' shared vision for economic growth and prosperity, further highlight this depth.
This will not be the last of such agreements. Despite the challenging circumstances surrounding us, I remain optimistic that better days are ahead, and this optimism is rooted in the fact that Amman and Abu Dhabi have always been a source of hope.
