The Jordanian Embassy in Washington on Thursday urged Jordanians residing in areas affected by Hurricane Milton, which is currently hitting the United States, to "take all necessary precautions and comply with public safety instructions from local authorities."

The embassy, through its platform on "X" (formerly Twitter), stated, "The embassy calls on Jordanian citizens residing in areas affected by Hurricane Milton to take all necessary precautions and comply with public safety instructions from local authorities."

It also urged citizens to contact the embassy's emergency number at (202) 294-9522 "in case of emergencies."

Hurricane Milton made its way towards Florida's Gulf Coast on Wednesday, giving residents one last day to either evacuate or shelter before being hit by the "catastrophic" Category 5 hurricane, with life-threatening storm surges.

With evacuation orders issued for over a million people in coastal areas, those fleeing to higher ground caused heavy congestion on highways on Tuesday, and fuel ran out at stations in an area still recovering from the devastating effects of Hurricane Helen less than two weeks ago.
