22 people, including 15 children and a woman, were killed, and about 80 others were injured when the Israeli occupation bombed a school in Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza. This brings the total number of displacement centers bombed by the occupation since October of last year to 191. The occupation later targeted displaced civilians at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah.
According to a statement from the Government Media Office in Gaza, the Israeli army committed a new massacre by bombing Al-Mufti School for displaced people in Nuseirat camp, despite knowing that the school housed thousands of displaced children and women and was not classified as a combat zone.
The statement held the Israeli occupation and the U.S. administration fully responsible for the ongoing genocide and continued massacres against civilians in the Gaza Strip.
The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) stated that the massacre is "a continuation of the Zionist policy of brutal extermination against our Palestinian people, reflecting its fascist approach of deliberately targeting civilians in residential neighborhoods and displacement centers."
Hamas added in its statement that "the Zionist enemy would not have dared to continue its heinous massacres in Gaza or expand them across the region without the cover provided by the U.S. administration and the international community's silence on these crimes."
The movement called on the international community and the United Nations to fulfill their legal and moral responsibilities regarding these repeated crimes and to immediately take action to stop the ongoing aggression and "hold the leaders of this terrorist entity accountable for their crimes and violations against the Palestinian people and the peoples of the region."
Targeting Displacement Tents
Shortly after the Nuseirat massacre, the occupation targeted tents sheltering displaced civilians at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah. Civil Defense teams reported trying to control a fire that broke out in the tents at the hospital.
The Gaza Government Media Office announced that 4 people were martyred, and 70 others were injured in the bombing of the displacement tents at the hospital.
In a press statement, the office said that the Israeli army bombed the displacement tents inside the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital compound for the seventh consecutive time, in a new act of carnage.
The Civil Defense in Gaza stated that the targeting of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital and, earlier, Al-Mufti School proves that there is no safe place in Gaza.
Since the beginning of the war on Gaza, Palestinians have faced the ordeal of displacement, with the Israeli army ordering residents of areas and neighborhoods to evacuate in preparation for bombardment, destruction, and ground incursions.
Displaced Palestinians are forced to seek refuge with relatives or friends, while others set up tents in streets, schools, or other places like prisons and amusement parks. They face difficult humanitarian conditions, with a lack of water, insufficient food, and the spread of diseases.
Bodies in the Streets
In the northern region, which the Israeli army declared isolated from Gaza City last Saturday, Israeli forces continue to demolish and heavily bombard the Jabalia area for the tenth consecutive day. An Israeli airstrike killed 5 children in the Al-Shati refugee camp in Gaza City.
The Palestinian News Agency and the Government Media Office reported that the children were playing near a café when a drone struck them with a missile.
Sources indicated that the bodies of dozens of martyrs are still under the rubble of homes and in the streets of Jabalia.
The sources added that the occupation forces are destroying what remains of the infrastructure in the area, including water wells, desalination plants, and solar power facilities.
The occupation forces have expanded their incursion in northern Gaza, with tanks reaching the northern outskirts of Gaza City. Reuters reported that residents said these forces shelled some areas in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, forcing many to leave their homes.
While Israel is currently concentrating its attacks on the north, it continues to bomb other areas across the Gaza Strip. The Palestinian Ministry of Health stated that at least 11 people were martyred on Sunday morning, including 6 in a house in Al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, south of Gaza City. The total number of victims exceeded 30 martyrs, excluding the Nuseirat massacre.
Residents reported that Israeli forces have effectively isolated the cities of Beit Hanoun, Jabalia, and Beit Lahia in northern Gaza from Gaza City, preventing movement between the two areas.
The Ministry of Health in Gaza confirmed that dozens of people have been martyred in the attacks on northern areas, and there are fears that dozens more have been martyred on the roads and under the rubble of their homes, with medical teams unable to reach them.
UN Testimony
Joyce Msuya, Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs at the United Nations and Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator, wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that "what is happening in northern Gaza is horrifying, and words cannot describe it."
She added, "Israeli forces are intensifying their attacks. Hospitals are being forced to discharge their patients. Essential supplies are running out. People are being forced to leave their homes, cut off from aid, and are starving. These atrocities must end."
Palestinian and UN officials have said that there are no safe areas in Gaza. They have also expressed concerns about the severe shortages of food, fuel, and medical supplies in northern Gaza, warning that the threat of famine is looming.
In the southern part of the besieged Gaza Strip, local officials at the border reported that Israeli authorities released 12 Palestinians who had been arrested during the ground invasion. The released detainees reported that they were subjected to torture and mistreatment during their detention, which Israel denies.
