The National Erasmus+ Office, in collaboration with the Global Outreach Center and the Department of Public and International Relations at Amman Al-Ahliyya University, organized an introductory day for the Erasmus+ Programme for the central region. The event was attended by the European Union Ambassador to Jordan, H.E. Pierre-Christophe Chatzisavas, Chairman of the Accreditation Council for Higher Education Institutions, Prof. Dr. Dhafir Al-Sarayrah, former Minister of Health Dr. Mahmoud Al-Sheyyab, President of Amman Al-Ahliyya University, Prof. Dr. Sari Hamdan, Vice President for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Ahmad Hamdan, and Director of the Global Outreach Center, Dr. Fayrouz Abu Sowaylem.
Prof. Dr. Ahmad Hamdan, Vice President of Amman Al-Ahliyya University for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, emphasized that the Erasmus+ Programme has brought about a significant transformation in Jordanian universities. It has provided opportunities to establish strategic partnerships with prominent educational institutions in the European Union. These partnerships, through academic exchange programs and capacity-building initiatives, have broadened the horizons of faculty members and enhanced the quality of education and research. This cooperation has also positively impacted the development of university infrastructure, aligning it with global advancements.
In his remarks, H.E. Pierre-Christophe Chatzisavas, the EU Ambassador to Jordan, highlighted the vital role of the Erasmus+ Programme in promoting international cooperation and educational opportunities. He stressed that the program not only fosters academic exchange but also encourages cultural understanding and the sharing of best practices between institutions.
On behalf of the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Mamoun Al-Dubai, Prof. Dr. Dhafir Al-Sarayrah, Chairman of the Accreditation Council for Higher Education Institutions and Quality Assurance in Jordan, expressed the ministry's satisfaction with the positive impact of the Erasmus+ Programme on its initiatives. He also mentioned the successful completion of two projects aligned with the objectives of higher education in Jordan.
Prof. Dr. Ahmad Abu Al-Hijja, Director of the National Erasmus+ Office, highlighted the profound impact of the programme in Jordan, noting that nearly 8,000 students and staff have benefited from mobility opportunities that significantly enhanced their academic and professional skills. He emphasized the crucial role of Erasmus+ in capacity-building across various sectors, including education, vocational training, youth development, and higher education. Over 170 international cooperation projects have been supported, promoting the internationalization of Jordanian institutions and enabling the exchange of expertise between Jordanian and European institutions.
