AMMAN – Fathi Jaghbeer, President of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry, reaffirmed the industrial sector's commitment to building a true partnership with the government, particularly with the economic team, to address challenges facing the competitiveness of local industries both domestically and in export markets.

Speaking at a recent dialogue session held at Hamada Sports Club with several industrialists in attendance, Jaghbeer emphasized that the national industry is a key driver of economic growth and a major employer of local labor. He highlighted the importance of supporting national industries to expand their operations, increase production, and more job opportunities for Jordanians, contributing to reducing unemployment in line with the goals of the Economic Modernization Vision.

Jaghbeer also pointed out the value of such meetings in fostering communication within the industrial sector. He praised the strength of Jordanian industries, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, when locally made products were able to meet the needs of the domestic market.

He stressed the Chamber’s focus on enhancing exports and exploring new markets, believing in the importance of national exports for economic growth. The Chamber is working to target non-traditional markets, particularly in Africa and Asia, by participating in and organizing exhibitions to showcase the quality and efficiency of Jordanian products.

Jaghbeer noted that national industries can meet local market demands, with increasing consumer confidence in their high quality.

Raed Hamada, Chairman of the Tourism, Hotels, and Restaurants Committee at the Amman Chamber of Industry, also underscored the importance of such discussions to address the challenges facing the industrial sector. He called for reducing production costs, especially energy and tax costs, to enhance competitiveness locally and globally, while also cutting bureaucracy in investor transactions.

Hamada stressed the need to offer discounted land rental rates inside and outside industrial zones to encourage Jordanian investors to expand and establish projects that will drive economic development and boost exports, in line with the goals of the Economic Modernization Vision for sustainable growth.

During the meeting, industrialists raised several topics, including the expansion of support programs for industrial enterprises, reducing production costs, and speeding up the delivery of gas to industrial zones. They emphasized the importance of trade agreements between Jordan and other countries in stimulating national exports and noted that Jordanian products have reached 150 global markets due to their high quality.
