Amman, 20th October 2024: The Israeli army has confirmed the death of Colonel Ihsan Daksa, commander of the 401st Brigade, during a battle in Jabalia, northern Gaza. Another officer was seriously injured.
Israeli media had previously reported a significant security incident in Gaza before the army’s official announcement. According to military expert Osama Khaled, this marks the most senior Israeli military figure killed since the start of the "Al-Aqsa Flood" operation, as Colonel Daksa led the elite 401st Armored Brigade, part of Division 162, known as the "Steel Heels."
Khaled explained that Daksa was responsible for leading offensive operations in various areas across Gaza, including Shuja'iyya, Zeitoun, Beit Hanoun, Jabalia, and Rafah, and described his actions as a "massacre of both people and stone." He was reportedly killed in a direct operation, likely by sniper fire, during intense combat, marking a significant achievement for Al-Qassam Brigades in northern Gaza.
The incident is deemed significant due to the high number of casualties and the senior rank of the slain commander, who was 41 years old and had led numerous units throughout his military career.
