With the nomination of our esteemed professor and prominent national, legal, and parliamentary figure, Mr. Saleh Abdul Karim Al-Aramouti, by the parliamentary bloc of the Islamic Action Front, the Islamic movement takes a significant step forward in actively participating in the Jordanian political scene. This move aligns with its clear support for the political modernization project initiated and sponsored by the King, who has directed all state institutions to ensure its success.
I urge the decision-making centers in the state to view this nomination positively. The presence of a notable, wise, and caring national figure like Professor Abu Imad will advance the House of Representatives, allowing it to play its true role in Jordanian political life. It will serve as a support and ally for decision-makers during this upcoming phase, characterized by both internal and external challenges that necessitate a strong parliament as an active partner in the formulation of significant Jordanian political decisions in the days ahead.
Jordan has presented an honorable electoral model, exemplified by free and fair elections that revealed the direction of the Jordanian people's electoral and political choices. Therefore, it is hoped that the state will maintain this positive spirit in engaging with the political modernization project. In this regard, I call on decision-making centers not to interfere with the members of the House of Representatives in exercising their right to freely and responsibly elect their president without any external pressures.
There is a consensus that the upcoming political phase is sensitive and critical, both domestically and regionally. This necessitates that all stakeholders—decision-making centers, the government, sovereign entities, constitutional institutions, and both supportive and opposition parties—place the interests of the nation, its political system, and its security and stability above all else. We are all in the same boat, and we have no choice but to safely navigate through a turbulent sea of risks and challenges.
I wish our esteemed colleague, Saleh Al-Aramouti, all the best and success in the elections for the presidency of the House of Representatives.
