In celebration of Global Entrepreneurship Week, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah visited Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) today. Accompanying Her Majesty were Her Royal Highness Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, the university's founder and Chair of its Board of Trustees, and Professor Wijdan Abu Al-Haija, the university's President.
Queen Rania toured the King Hussein School of Computing Sciences, established in 2005, which offers undergraduate, master's, and doctoral degrees in disciplines such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Graphics, Cybersecurity, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence.
With an impressive employment rate of 96%, the school has gained international recognition, earning accreditations such as ABET for its Computer Science program and EUR-ACE for its Software Engineering program. These achievements highlight the school’s commitment to providing a high-quality educational and research environment that fosters scientific and technological innovation in Jordan.
Her Majesty attended part of an Artificial Intelligence lecture and engaged with students showcasing innovative AI projects addressing societal challenges. These projects align with PSUT’s longstanding mission to leverage ICT for Jordan’s development, focusing on innovation and sustainability.
Queen Rania also received updates on the university's latest advancements in IT, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Cybersecurity. Students demonstrated their practical expertise by simulating responses to cybersecurity threats, underscoring the university's role in equipping graduates with skills essential for the digital age.
During her visit, Her Majesty interacted with students across the campus, which houses the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship. Established by HRH Princess Sumaya in 2006, the centre promotes innovation and entrepreneurship as pillars of sustainable development.
Founded in 1991 under the umbrella of the Royal Scientific Society, PSUT plays a pivotal role in advancing Jordan’s socio-economic development. The university, in collaboration with the Royal Scientific Society, forms part of the dynamic ecosystem at El Hassan Science City, fostering technological progress, research, and entrepreneurial initiatives.
Global Entrepreneurship Week is a worldwide movement celebrating entrepreneurial spirit and creativity. It aims to spotlight the achievements of entrepreneurs across various sectors and inspire the next generation to embark on their journey of innovation and change.
In Jordan, resources such as funding, incubators, and mentorship have been instrumental in building a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem. Since 2009, the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship at PSUT has led the national celebration of Global Entrepreneurship Week, bringing together individuals and institutions to an environment that nurtures entrepreneurial thinking and support.
