Dr Omar Al-Rashdan, Head of Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacy at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Middle East University (MEU), has achieved a significant milestone by securing second place in the Arab Universities Union’s Social Responsibility Award.
Dr Al-Rashdan’s research, titled "Estimating the Indirect Economic Burden of Cancer Patients in Jordan: A Retrospective Observational Study," was recognised as the best scientific research in social responsibility across the Arab region.
This accomplishment reflects MEU’s dedication to fostering impactful scientific research addressing vital societal issues, contributing to health and social development in the region.
As the sole Jordanian representative to receive this honour in the current award cycle, Dr Al-Rashdan’s achievement highlights MEU’s leadership in elevating Jordan’s research presence on the regional stage. Other awards were presented to researchers from neighbouring Arab countries, further underscoring the significance of this achievement for Jordan.
Dr Al-Rashdan was honoured at an official ceremony under the patronage of Professor Dr Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary-General of the Arab Universities Union, and supervised by Professor Dr Yousef Diab Awad, Director of the Social Responsibility Council of Arab Universities.
This recognition cements MEU’s role as a leading institution in advancing research that addresses pressing societal challenges while promoting Jordan’s academic excellence on an Arab level.
