Dr. Hijaazi in an Interview with Australian SBS Network: Leadership of Al-Ahliyya Amman University in Supporting Innovation and Achieving Sustainability

In a special interview on the "Good Morning Australia" program, one of the most followed radio shows worldwide, broadcast by Australia's national SBS network on November 27, 2024, Dr. Amer Hijaazi, Assistant Professor at the College of Engineering at Al-Ahliyya Amman University and expert in sustainable smart infrastructure, highlighted the university’s leadership in sustainability. He praised the efforts of the university's senior leadership in supporting and nurturing innovation.

He emphasized that these initiatives contribute to enhancing scientific research outputs and providing tangible solutions to global challenges, reflecting the university's commitment to active participation at both local and global levels. Dr. Hijaazi further explained that the university continues to integrate sustainable development principles into its curricula and research projects, with a focus on innovation and sustainable infrastructure. This contributes to achieving important goals such as sustainable cities and clean energy.

For his part, Professor Dr. Sari Hamdan, President of Al-Ahliyya Amman University, expressed pride in the university’s pioneering role in promoting sustainable development at both local and international levels. He affirmed the university’s deep commitment to a strategic vision based on innovation and applied scientific research to find effective solutions to environmental, social, and economic challenges. Dr. Hamdan added that the university strives to rank among the world’s top universities through sustainable international partnerships and advanced academic programs, contributing to achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations, including ending poverty, improving quality education, gender equality, climate action, and good health.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Board of Directors at Al-Ahliyya Amman University, Dr. Maher Al-Hourani, confirmed that the university aims to be at the forefront of educational institutions contributing effectively to achieving sustainable development. He explained that the university continues to support scientific research focused on innovative solutions that enhance sustainability and provides an educational environment that meets the demands of the modern era. The university also works diligently to expand its international and regional partnerships, reflecting its commitment to achieving development goals at all levels.

It is noteworthy that Al-Ahliyya Amman University was the only Arab university included in the 2024 Global BIM Education Report, due to strategic partnerships with prestigious Australian universities and collaboration with international organizations. Additionally, Dr. Hijaazi contributed to the development of the Australian standard for digital engineering for infrastructure, AS 7739.2, as part of an international expert team.
