Cybersecurity has become an integral part of the technological landscape. In this context, and driven by the need to empower talent in this critical sector, Orange Jordan sponsored the SHEHacks competition, the first of its kind in the region, organized by Green Circle Cybersecurity Solutions.
The competition aimed to provide participants the opportunity to develop their skills in areas such as encryption, reverse engineering, web applications, hacking, and more. This would enable them to respond to the unprecedentedly evolving cyberattacks. The competition’s goal was to increase the number of talents, particularly women, in vital technology sectors.
The closing ceremony, held under the patronage of the Acting Dutch Ambassador to Jordan, Pierre de Vries, celebrated the winners of the exciting competition, where participants were invited to solve cybersecurity puzzles through various challenges. The announcement marked the beginning of a new journey to enhance the cybersecurity scene in Jordan, particularly given the challenges the country faces, including a lack of talent in the field and high unemployment rates among young women.
The winners were: First place – Pink Panthers team from Amman Arab University, second place – K3rn3l Qu33ns team from Al-Zaytoonah University, second place tie – Alien$irenix team from Amman Arab University, third place – Pink Byte team from Balqa Applied University, and third place tie – s1r3ns team from Princess Sumaya University for Technology.
Notably, the competition included multiple stages, including online training to enhance participants' skills, followed by a preliminary electronic competition. Prizes were awarded to the winners, who will contribute to strengthening Jordan’s cybersecurity sector.
