The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) announced on Monday that 33 Israeli prisoners held in its custody have been killed, most of them as a result of Israeli airstrikes targeting various areas in the Gaza Strip since the conflict began in October 2023.

In a video shared on its Telegram account, Hamas stated that "33 Israeli prisoners were killed, and some went missing due to the actions and obstinacy of the criminal (Israeli Prime Minister) Benjamin Netanyahu."

The group warned that continued Israeli aggression would lead to further deaths among captured Israeli soldiers, adding in a brief statement accompanying the video, "With your ongoing reckless war, you may lose your prisoners forever. Act before it’s too late."

The video detailed the timeline of casualties, including:

October 2023:

Four prisoners and their captors were killed on October 9 due to intense bombing.

Nine prisoners were killed on October 14 amid heavy airstrikes.

One prisoner was killed on December 8 during an Israeli operation to free a captured soldier.

2024:

Seven prisoners died on March 1 after weeks of lost contact with their captors.

Three were killed in an Israeli massacre in central Gaza on June 9.

On August 12, one prisoner was killed by their guard, and two female prisoners were critically injured.

Six prisoners died on September 2, with Israel later recovering their bodies from a tunnel in Rafah.

Two female prisoners were killed during ongoing military operations in northern Gaza, one on October 21 and another on November 21.

Hamas noted that Palestinian resistance factions captured approximately 251 Israelis on October 7, 2023, according to Israeli estimates. A prisoner exchange deal in November 2023 saw the release of around 105 individuals, including 81 Israelis, 23 Thais, and one Filipino.
