The Syrian opposition announced on Sunday the imposition of a curfew in Damascus from 4:00 PM local time until 5:00 AM.

Earlier that morning, the opposition declared on state television that it had taken control of Damascus and ended President Bashar al-Assad's 24-year rule.

Syrian Prime Minister Mohammad Al-Jallali told Al-Mamlaka on Sunday that there is no information on the whereabouts of former President Assad. He added that his last communication with Assad was the previous day while the president was in his Damascus office.

Al-Jallali also noted that an agreement with the opposition has been reached to maintain state institutions during the transition to a new government.

He urged the Syrian people to remain calm, safeguard national assets, and avoid chaos or acts of revenge.
