Amman Ahliyya University recently hosted the National Taekwondo Team coach, Captain Fares Al-Assaf, for an exceptional lecture titled "Preparing Coaches and Athletes for Elite Levels". The event, held the day before yesterday at the Hourani Auditorium, was organized by the Faculty of Educational Sciences in collaboration with the university's Student Sports Club.
The session was moderated by Dr. Saleh Hammad, the club's advisor, who conveyed greetings and warm regards from the University President, Prof. Sari Hamdan, and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Maher Hourani. He lauded their unwavering support for sports and athletes, emphasizing their dedication to fostering sports and educational initiatives within the university and the local community.
During the lecture, Captain Al-Assaf shared his extensive experience in taekwondo, highlighting modern scientific methods for preparing coaches and athletes to reach elite levels. He stressed the importance of strategic planning and structured training to achieve sporting excellence.
Captain Al-Assaf also praised the pivotal role played by Amman Ahliyya University in supporting sports and athletes. He particularly acknowledged the university's provision of athletic scholarships for outstanding athletes and its academic and sports facilities that empower students to excel both academically and athletically. This approach, he noted, reflects the university's commitment to integrating education and sports.
Dr. Hatem Al-Shaloul, Head of the Department of Physical and Health Education, expressed his appreciation for Captain Al-Assaf’s contributions to the lecture. He emphasized the significance of such events in enriching students' knowledge, fostering connections between students and experts, and enhancing collaboration between the department and national teams.
At the conclusion of the lecture, Captain Al-Assaf was honoured with a commemorative shield from Amman Ahliyya University in recognition of his valuable presence and contribution.
