Zain Group announced that its gaming brand, Zain Esports, wrapped up a successful year of events and competitions, hosting 50 tournaments across Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan, and Iraq.
Key achievements include a strategic partnership with Riot Games MEA to launch League of Legends ME servers in the Middle East, integrating the game into Zain Esports’ events and expanding its reach into global esports networks.
Since its launch in 2021, Zain Esports has attracted over 70,000 participants, garnered 160 million social media impressions, and built a community of 210,000 followers. In 2024, its tournaments were watched by over 820,000 live viewers on Twitch and YouTube.
Regional Highlights:
Kuwait: Offline football tournaments featured 62 matches with hundreds of players.
Saudi Arabia: PLAYHERA, Zain’s local arm, continued fostering the esports ecosystem.
Bahrain: Partnerships with universities launched the Zain University League, engaging 300 emerging players in competitions and workshops.
Jordan: Zain signed a strategic agreement with the Jordan Esports Federation (JEF) to support national esports activities and train local talent.
Iraq: Participated in the Tekken 8 World Esports Championship and partnered with the ITEX Iraq Expo.
Malik Hammoud, Zain Group’s Chief Investment and Digital Services Officer, emphasized Zain’s commitment to the thriving gaming community, noting its impact on youth engagement. Zain’s investments in 5G and FTTH networks have bolstered esports growth, positioning Zain Esports to deliver more dynamic events in 2025 and beyond.
