Minister of Government Communication and official spokesperson Mohammed Al-Momani announced that Jordan welcomes the ceasefire agreement aimed at ending violence and killing in Gaza and the West Bank.
Speaking on his “X” platform account on Thursday, Al-Momani stated, “We proudly recall Jordan’s historic and unwavering Arab solidarity with the Palestinian people. We were, and will always remain, the closest to our brethren in Palestine, making the greatest efforts to defend them and their just cause.”
He explained that Jordan has employed its political, diplomatic, media, and humanitarian tools to support the Palestinian cause. He also highlighted the role of King Abdullah II, who leveraged his global stature and international connections to advocate for Palestine, playing a pivotal role in reshaping global public opinion on the aggression in Gaza.
Al-Momani emphasised the significant efforts of the Jordanian Armed Forces and security agencies, stating, “Jordan was the first to break the siege, delivering relief aid, medical services, and field hospitals to Gaza and the West Bank.” He noted that the Royal Jordanian Air Force and the Hashemite Charity Organisation provided aid under bombardment, showcasing Jordan's historic solidarity that will never be forgotten. He also confirmed the continued dispatch of the largest aid convoy to Gaza to date.
He praised the Jordanian people's solidarity with Palestinians, citing King Abdullah II’s personal efforts, which included delivering aid to Gaza during wartime, risking his life aboard an Air Force aircraft. Al-Momani reiterated the necessity of returning displaced Palestinians to northern Gaza and initiating reconstruction efforts to stabilise them on their land.
He concluded by affirming that peace cannot be achieved without justice, and the Palestinian people's right to self-determination must be upheld. This, he said, requires a political process culminating in the establishment of a Palestinian state on national soil, with Jerusalem as its capital.
Al-Momani called on all Jordanians to celebrate the ceasefire with pride in their country’s honourable stance—its people, leadership, and army standing steadfast with wounded Palestine.
