The remittances of Jordanians working in Qatar grew significantly in 2024, rising by 8.4% compared to 2023.
The total remittances reached approximately 515 million Qatari riyals ($141.4 million) last year, up by 40 million riyals ($11 million) from 475 million riyals ($130 million) in 2023 and 426 million riyals ($117 million) in 2022.
The Jordanian expatriate population in Qatar currently numbers around 75,000, the majority of whom are part of the workforce.
According to commercial bank employees and money exchange executives in Qatar, periodic financial data shows a steady increase in remittances sent by the Jordanian community, driven by a noticeable rise in their numbers over recent years.
These regular remittances play a crucial role in supporting the financial stability and living standards of families back in Jordan, helping cover obligations like loans, education costs, healthcare, and housing.
Several years ago, Qatar launched an unprecedented initiative to provide 20,000 job opportunities for Jordanian youth. By the end of 2023, half of these jobs—about 10,000—had been filled as part of the first phase, with efforts underway to complete the second phase.
Most Jordanians in Qatar are employed in the government’s education and healthcare sectors, as well as private institutions. Others work in a variety of fields, including finance, banking, real estate, construction, manufacturing, hospitality, tourism, food services, IT, and general services.
Qatar remains a key Gulf destination for Jordanian workers, offering roles across diverse sectors in both public and private domains.
