Saudi Arabia and the World Economic Forum (WEF) have announced that Riyadh will host a high-level regular global meeting of the WEF in the first half of 2026.
The announcement was made by Saudi Minister of Economy and Planning Faisal bin Fadhil Alibrahim and WEF President Børge Brende on the final day of the 55th WEF Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland.
The event will serve as a global platform bringing together world leaders, experts, policymakers, and stakeholders from public and private sectors, academia, international organisations, and civil society to address global challenges.
Minister Alibrahim described the hosting as a testament to Saudi Arabia's role as a global hub for dialogue, cooperation, and innovation. He stated:
"At this critical juncture for the global economy, we are inspired by the opportunities ahead and confident that our collective efforts will lead to a brighter, more inclusive, and prosperous future for all. We look forward to welcoming the global community to Saudi Arabia in 2026."
WEF President Børge Brende said:
"We look forward to returning to the Kingdom in 2026. This announcement at the conclusion of the 55th WEF sets a forward-looking path for the years ahead, which will face significant challenges. The progress we achieve in the coming months will not only yield short-term results but also shape our trajectory for years to come."
The announcement highlights Saudi Arabia's growing role in shaping the global agenda. Building on the success of hosting a special WEF meeting in Riyadh in April 2024, the Kingdom aims to enhance global dialogue between developed and developing economies and promote inclusive global development.
This regular WEF global meeting in Riyadh is expected to become a cornerstone event on the global calendar, showcasing Saudi Arabia's position as a vital bridge between North and South, East and West, and as a model for constructive dialogue and collaborative action.
