Amman—Several Lebanese villagers near the Israeli border were injured by Israeli gunfire on Sunday morning as they attempted to return to their homes following the expiration of the 60-day ceasefire.

A Lebanese security source reported that residents of Kfarkela and Taybeh gathered at the entrances to their villages, insisting on bypassing Lebanese army barricades to return to their homes. In response, Israeli forces opened fire, injuring several individuals.

An Israeli drone reportedly dropped several bombs near residents of Meiss El Jabal and fired warning shots to intimidate them. Additionally, two young men from the village of Houla were detained by the Israeli army.

The source also noted that Israeli forces placed dirt barriers in the Wadi Al-Hujair area to prevent villagers from accessing their homes.

Since the early hours of Sunday, residents from villages in the western and central sectors of the south have gathered at their village entrances, with some reaching safe areas within their towns. Lebanese army units have been assisting the returnees, according to Petra News Agency.
