Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi reaffirmed Jordan’s unwavering stance against the displacement of Palestinians, stating that such actions will not bring peace or security to the region.
In a briefing before the House of Representatives on Monday, Safadi emphasised Jordan’s steadfast commitment to supporting Palestinians’ right to remain on their land, describing this as an essential pillar for achieving stability and the peace everyone seeks.
“Any talk of an alternative homeland is unacceptable, and we will continue to oppose it,” Safadi declared, adding that Jordan remains resolute in supporting the Palestinian cause and their right to sovereignty and establishing an independent state.
Safadi reiterated that Jordan will never accept a resolution to the Palestinian issue at its expense, nor will it tolerate any attempts to undermine Palestinian rights. He noted that Jordan is continuing to send aid to Gaza, prioritising efforts to stabilise the ceasefire in the region.
Under King Abdullah II’s leadership, Safadi said, Jordan is persistently leading efforts to deliver aid to Gaza and working with regional partners to advance clear steps toward achieving peace.
He stressed the importance of a just and comprehensive peace, which includes establishing a sovereign, independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967, borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. Safadi underlined that genuine security, stability, and peace in the region depend on fulfilling Palestinian rights under the two-state solution, in line with international law and relevant resolutions.
Turning to regional developments, Safadi highlighted Jordan’s supportive stance toward Syria, describing it as a partner during this historical phase, and reaffirmed Jordan’s commitment to Lebanon’s security, sovereignty, and the restoration of its institutions’ effective role.
