AMMAN – The Chairman of the Tourism, Restaurants, and Hotels Industry Committee at the Amman Chamber of Industry, Raed Hamadeh, emphasized that Jordan, under the leadership of King Abdullah II, has achieved significant economic milestones that have contributed to sustainable development and job creation.
In a statement marking the King's birthday, Hamadeh praised His Majesty’s role in improving living standards and enhancing the business and investment climate. He noted that since assuming his constitutional powers, the King has prioritized economic development, with a strong focus on empowering the private sector.
Hamadeh highlighted the impact of royal directives in strengthening Jordan’s commercial and industrial sectors, making them key drivers of economic growth. The industrial sector, in particular, has flourished, attracting both local and foreign investment. Jordanian exports have expanded to 150 countries, with the industry now employing over 260,000 workers, 90% of whom are Jordanian.
He described the King’s Economic Modernization Vision as a strategic roadmap for sustainable growth, job creation, and increased GDP. The plan calls for strong public-private collaboration to implement broad initiatives that support all economic sectors.
Hamadeh stressed the need for intensified efforts to attract investment by enhancing tax and customs incentives, providing financial facilities, and improving the business environment. He pointed out that Jordan’s political and security stability, despite regional turmoil, remains a key factor in attracting investors.
Recognizing the private sector as a vital partner in economic development, Hamadeh called for continued government cooperation to reduce production costs, ease burdens on investors, and expand incentives, particularly in energy pricing, shipping costs, and tax exemptions.
He also commended the Jordan Chamber of Industry, led by Eng. Fathi Al-Jaghbir, for its efforts in overcoming challenges facing industrialists, strengthening competitiveness, and driving economic growth.
Hamadeh reaffirmed the Tourism, Restaurants, and Hotels Industry Committee’s commitment to advancing this crucial sector, which remains a pillar of Jordan’s economy.
