European sources confirmed that Jordan and the European Union will sign an agreement on Wednesday to elevate their relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
The sources emphasized that Jordan is a key partner and close ally of the EU across all levels.
In a previous interview with Al Mamlaka TV, European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness, and Crisis Management Hadjia Lahbib praised EU-Jordan ties, stating that the bloc will strengthen and expand its partnership with Jordan through the upcoming agreement.
Lahbib described Jordan as a vital regional ally and a true friend of the EU, highlighting its stability and role in building bridges. She noted that during her visit to Jordan, she met with King Abdullah II, who reaffirmed his strong commitment to delivering aid to Gaza and Syria.
As part of their growing partnership, the EU and Jordan launched an investment platform to attract funds to the kingdom, with potential investments reaching €2.5 billion. The EU welcomed Jordan’s ongoing economic and political reforms, pledging continued support for its ambitious development plans.
Jordan remains a key EU partner in foreign policy, with their cooperation spanning politics, economy, human rights, rule of law, climate change, and regional and international affairs—including their joint presidency of the Union for the Mediterranean.
In June 2022, Jordan hosted the 14th EU-Jordan Association Council at the Dead Sea, marking the first time such a meeting took place in an EU partner country—further underscoring the long-standing and solid partnership between the two sides.
