In one of the largest illegal logging busts in the governorate, Ajloun’s Agriculture Directorate, in coordination with security forces, seized a closed cargo truck carrying 10 tonnes of smuggled firewood early Sunday morning.

Ajloun Agriculture Director Eng. Rami Al-Adwan stated that the seized firewood resulted from extensive illegal logging, targeting forests that serve as the "lungs" of the region and a vital natural resource. Authorities tracked the vehicle through careful surveillance and will take strict legal action against those involved.

He warned that excessive logging poses a severe threat to vegetation, endangers biodiversity, and accelerates desertification. The directorate is intensifying field monitoring in cooperation with security forces to curb forest violations.

Al-Adwan urged citizens to report any illegal activities harming forests, stressing the national responsibility to preserve Jordan’s woodland heritage for future generations.
