Jordan remains under the influence of an extremely cold and humid air mass, bringing a further in temperatures, stormy conditions, and widespread rain, according to Raed Rafed Al-Khattab, Director of the Meteorological Department.

Heavy overnight downpours, accompanied by thunder and hail, caused water levels to rise in valleys and low-lying areas, including the Dead Sea, prompting flood warnings. Mountain areas above 1,100 metres saw rain mixed with snow, with limited accumulations expected in some regions.

The country is experiencing powerful northwesterly winds exceeding 80 km/h in some areas, kicking up dust in the desert. By evening, rainfall will gradually weaken, and wind speeds will decrease.

Al-Khattab warned of flooding risks, strong wind gusts, reduced visibility due to dust in the desert, and fog over highlands.

On Friday, temperatures will slightly rise but remain cold, with partly cloudy skies and chances of light rain in western Jordan. Winds will be moderate to active northwesterlies.

Night temperatures will sharply, with frost expected in highlands and parts of the Badia. The Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, and Aqaba will be milder. Drivers are urged to be cautious on wet roads and secure loose objects against strong winds.
