Former U.S. President Donald Trump suggested Monday that Ukraine might "one day become Russian," while reiterating his demand that the U.S. secure large quantities of Ukraine’s rare minerals in exchange for military aid.

In an interview with Fox News, Trump said, "I want our money secured because we’re spending hundreds of billions of dollars. Maybe they (the Ukrainians) will reach a deal, maybe they won’t. Maybe they’ll become Russian one day, maybe they won’t."

He also claimed to have requested $500 billion worth of rare minerals—essential for electronics manufacturing—from Kyiv in return for U.S. support. (AFP)
