King, World Bank Chief Discuss Economic, Development Cooperation

King Abdullah II met with World Bank Group President Ajay Banga on Tuesday to explore ways to strengthen economic and development cooperation.

Attended by Crown Prince Hussein and Prince Hashem, the meeting covered Jordan’s efforts in economic modernization and public sector reform, with the King expressing appreciation for the World Bank’s support in these areas.

Discussions also addressed the impact of the refugee crisis and climate change on Jordan’s development efforts, highlighting the need for increased international support for projects benefiting refugees and host communities while mitigating climate challenges.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 78th UN General Assembly and was attended by the King’s Office Director, Dr. Jaafar Hassan, and Jordan’s Ambassador to Washington, Dina Kawar.
