Israeli authorities are awaiting Hamas' confirmation on Friday regarding the identities of three detainees set for release on Saturday in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, following heated threats between both sides that raised fears of renewed conflict.

Egyptian media reported that Cairo and Doha successfully mediated obstacles hindering the ceasefire’s continuation, ensuring both parties adhere to the truce that ended a devastating 15-month war in Gaza.

The agreement was at risk on Tuesday after former U.S. President Donald Trump warned Hamas of “opening the gates of hell” if it failed to release all remaining Israeli detainees by Saturday.

Israel echoed the ultimatum, with government spokesperson David Menser stating Thursday that the ceasefire terms mandate Hamas to release the three detainees alive by Saturday. “If they are not freed by noon, and Hamas does not return our hostages, the ceasefire will be over,” he warned.
