Amman, 18 Feb 2025 – Reinforcing its commitment to combating climate change and desertification in Jordan, Zain Jordan organized a volunteer event to plant 500 trees—both forest and fruit-bearing—at Al Hussein Youth City.
The event, attended by Al Hussein Youth City Director General Bassam Al-Khalayleh, saw participation from Zain employees and Vespa Jordan Riders. This initiative aligns with Zain’s environmental sustainability programs aimed at expanding green spaces, improving air quality, enhancing biodiversity, and fostering a sustainable future. It also promotes community engagement, volunteerism, and environmental responsibility while contributing to Jordan’s aesthetic and ecological landscape.
To date, Zain has planted 18,150 trees across Jordan as part of its green initiatives. The company continues to partner with local organizations, including a strategic collaboration with the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature to support the sustainability of Jordan’s national tree, the Malloul oak, in Yarmouk Forest Reserve. This includes rehabilitating a designated area, restoring degraded trees, and planting 250 Malloul trees in a dedicated "Zain" section of the reserve.
Additionally, through the Green Caravan Project with the Arab Group for the Protection of Nature, Zain supports underprivileged Jordanian farmers by providing resources to cultivate their lands, ensuring sustainable income and economic empowerment. So far, 55 farmers have benefited from the initiative. The company also continues periodic afforestation efforts in Thaghrat Asfour Forest, Jerash, in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry Directorate.
