Prime Minister Dr. Jaafar Hassan inspected the sports facilities in Al Hussein Youth City on Sunday as part of preparations to upgrade them in line with royal directives.
He instructed the Ministry of Youth to develop a detailed plan, in coordination with relevant ministries and authorities, to prioritize the maintenance of the city's facilities within available resources. The renovation, set for completion by 2026, will include the Cultural Palace, Amman International Stadium, Prince Rashid Hall, Prince Hamzah Hall, and the Olympic swimming pool.
Hassan also emphasized the importance of regular and essential maintenance for all facilities—stadiums, sports halls, swimming pools, and recreational spaces—to ensure their sustainability and readiness to host local and international sports events.
Accompanied by the Minister of Youth, the prime minister toured the city's facilities and received a briefing from the city’s director. The meeting was attended by the Secretary-General of the Jordan Football Association, the Secretary-General of the Olympic Committee, and the Acting Secretary-General of the Ministry of Youth, who outlined key development needs for the city's sports infrastructure.
In late January, King Abdullah II directed the government to build a new international football stadium and enhance sports facilities in Al Hussein Youth City—the first sports city in Jordan—alongside ongoing upgrades to sports venues in the capital and other governorates.
