Berlin – The Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) concluded its participation in the ITB Berlin 2025 tourism exhibition by signing charter flight agreements with several European countries, aiming to increase tourist arrivals to Jordan this year.
The event, held in Berlin from March 4-6, featured 17 tourism offices, five Jordanian hotels, the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), Royal Jordanian Airlines, and the Jordan Heritage Revival Company.
JTB Director General Dr. Abdul Razzaq Arabiyat emphasized that Jordan's participation aligns with its strategy to enhance tourism revenue in 2025 and reflects the royal vision of positioning tourism as a pillar of the national economy. He noted that Jordan is actively working to expand existing markets and tap into new ones.
Arabiyat highlighted that Jordan's pavilion at ITB Berlin served as a key promotional platform, showcasing the kingdom as a diverse tourism destination rich in history, culture, and natural beauty. He attended meetings with low-cost and charter airlines, resulting in five agreements that will bring more European tourists to Jordan.
“These agreements are part of ongoing efforts to increase tourist numbers and expand market reach, which will positively impact the tourism sector and support Jordan’s economy,” Arabiyat stated.
Focus on Sustainable & Inclusive Tourism
Jordan's participation this year emphasized sustainable tourism, unique travel experiences, and the latest sector developments. Arabiyat noted that the German market has seen significant growth in demand for Jordan, with visitor numbers in January and February 2025 approaching 2019 levels.
He underscored Jordan’s commitment to sustainability, participating in a panel discussion on sustainable tourism. The session highlighted Jordan's initiatives in eco-tourism and diving tourism in Aqaba, in collaboration with the CBI program.
Arabiyat also stressed the importance of inclusive tourism, revealing that Jordan launched a 10-year plan in 2019 to upgrade 60% of its tourist facilities for better accessibility. In 2023 alone, 260,000 tourists with disabilities visited Jordan, demonstrating the success of its inclusive travel initiatives.
Additionally, Jordan joined the Sustainable Travel Alliance as a founding member, launched by the Green Destinations organization, to promote global eco-friendly tourism.
Unique Pavilion & Global Media Engagement
Jordan’s pavilion at ITB Berlin captured its rich cultural heritage, featuring a replica of Jerash’s Roman Arch of Triumph and a special adventure tourism corner promoting the Egeria Trail, which combines religious tourism and adventure experiences.
Arabiyat concluded, “We are building on our successes by expanding sustainable and adventure tourism while enhancing inclusivity in the sector. Our participation in ITB Berlin 2025 is a step towards realizing Jordan’s tourism vision and attracting travelers seeking exceptional experiences.”
Jordan’s participation included global media engagements with TV stations, newspapers, websites, and radio outlets, spreading the message that Jordan is a diverse, safe, and welcoming destination.
The Jordanian Ambassador to Germany, Fayez Khoury, visited the pavilion, engaging with tourism professionals who expressed growing interest in Jordan’s eco-tourism, adventure travel, and medical tourism.
JTB’s efforts at ITB Berlin reflect Jordan’s commitment to strengthening its global tourism presence, increasing visitor numbers, and reinforcing its position as a leading travel destination.
