Exclusive sources told Al Jazeera that the Syrian government has reached an agreement with the residents and dignitaries of Suwayda to fully integrate the province into state institutions.

The agreement stipulates that Suwayda’s security agencies will be incorporated into the Syrian Ministry of Interior. Additionally, local police officers will be recruited from the province’s residents. However, the Syrian government will appoint a governor and a police chief, with no requirement for them to be from Suwayda.
