Jordan’s Ministry of Labor reported that 2,419 non-Jordanian workers were found violating labor laws during joint inspections conducted with the Ministry of Interior and Public Security Directorate in January and February 2025.

Ministry spokesperson Mohammed Al-Zayoud stated that over 2,000 workers, including 104 domestic workers, have already been deported. Some cases are still under review, with employers opting to pay fines to regularize their workers' status instead of deportation.

The inspection campaign is ongoing, following regulatory measures introduced late last year to allow migrant workers to switch sectors and help businesses utilize available labor legally. The ministry had urged employers to rectify the status of illegal workers to avoid fines of at least 800 dinars per violation.

Al-Zayoud emphasized that the ministry aims to regulate the labor market while ensuring fair treatment for all workers, regardless of nationality. He warned employers against hiring illegal workers, including domestic workers, noting that some had been reported as runaways or employed in unauthorized jobs.

He reiterated that employers still have the opportunity to legalize their workers by paying the necessary permit fees and fines before further enforcement actions are taken.
