As part of efforts to position Jordan as a global tourism destination, the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) announced new agreements with leading low-cost carriers Ryanair and Wizz Air to resume direct flights to the Kingdom starting in April.
JTB Director General Dr. Abdulrazzaq Arabiyat confirmed that Ryanair will operate 27 weekly flights on 14 direct routes to Amman from key European cities, including Milan, Paris, Madrid, Rome, Vienna, Budapest, and Brussels. An estimated 125,000 passengers are expected during the April-October summer season.
Wizz Air will enhance its presence in Jordan with six direct routes to Amman from London, Abu Dhabi, Budapest, Rome, Milan, and Vienna, plus three routes to Aqaba from Warsaw, Bucharest, and Katowice. Two additional Aqaba routes may be introduced later this year, with total passenger numbers expected to reach 145,000 annually.
Arabiyat emphasized that the return of low-cost flights is a game-changer for Jordan’s tourism and aviation sectors, making the country more accessible to European travelers. Expanding direct flight networks is a core part of JTB’s strategy to drive record-breaking tourist arrivals.
He highlighted the broader economic impact, including increased hotel occupancy, revitalized transport and hospitality sectors, and Jordan’s emergence as a regional tourism hub. The JTB will continue strengthening partnerships with global airlines to expand direct routes and cement Jordan’s place on the world tourism map.
