Written by Senator George Hizboun: How Do We Protect the National Economy?
The foundation for protecting the national economy and eliminating reliance on aid and debt can be achieved in one of two ways: either by increasing state revenues through taxes and proper collection — and we believe the executive authority has achieved notable success in this area — but any further tax increases would lead to economic stagnation and a financial crisis in the private sector, ultimately weakening financial returns and collections.
The other approach is to reduce expenditures. Despite the directives of His Majesty the King regarding administrative and financial reform, this avenue has yet to be seriously pursued.
The abundance of independent commissions, institutions, public companies, and other self-contained units with overlapping or complementary functions — numbering in the dozens — continue to drain state revenues and burden the budget. It is time to reintegrate their operations into the relevant ministries and treat them as departments or directorates, so that their expenses and employee salaries are aligned with the rest of the public sector and remain under the oversight of the Audit Bureau, in accordance with the constitutional framework.
