Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan emphasized during his speech to the House of Representatives today that Jordan's supreme national interests come above all else, stressing that no one can impose decisions or choices on Jordanians. He made it clear that the state will not allow any internal or external parties to interfere in its affairs or affect its fundamental principles.
Hassan stated that the government will respond swiftly and decisively to anyone threatening Jordan’s security and the safety of its people, and will not allow any plans or decisions that contradict the country’s national policies and its interests, which are determined solely by the state. He further added that the state will not tolerate any groups that incite against its institutions or exploit the lives of citizens for their own agendas, while manipulating the noble sentiments of the Jordanian people.
He stressed that the steadfastness of the Palestinian people on their land is a Jordanian priority and goal, but it must not come at the expense of Jordan’s security and stability. Hassan underscored that the Jordanian Arab Army and security agencies are the ones safeguarding the country’s borders and security, adding, "No loyal Jordanian can remain silent when it comes to our identity, national institutions, and steadfast values."
The Prime Minister also mentioned that he had previously affirmed in his meetings with political blocs that the state's responsibility amid the crises in the region is to protect the homeland, its stability, and its people. He emphasized that when it comes to Jordan's security and sovereignty, no priority surpasses this, and that the state alone makes these decisions, which is non-negotiable.
Hassan concluded by reaffirming that Jordanians reject any attempts to undermine their positions on the Palestinian cause, and will not allow any party to exploit the anger felt over the brutality inflicted on the Palestinian people to harm Jordan's efforts or disrupt its national unity.
